On September 24, 2025, the US Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) announced the initiation of an investigation into the effects on US national security of imports of robotics and industrial machinery.1 The investigation could result in the imposition of tariffs or other import restrictions by Spring 2026.
